23 November 2008 - Maksymilian Ciężki - Enigma
In November 2008 we repatriated to Poland the remains of Maksymilian Ciezki, the author of the success of the Polish cryptologists coping with the Enigma. If it were not for him and his people, the Allies would stand no chance of decoding the Enigma. After the war, he settled in Wales where he died in 1951.
The Marshall Office of Wielkopolskie Province in cooperation with the Municipal Office in Szamotuly decided to repatriate the remains of this Wielkopolskie Province citizen so much deserved for Poland’s independence back to his home Szamotuly.
On 23 November 2008 he rested in the grave on the cemetery in Szamotuly, buried with honors. May he rest in peace!
